MAYGEN & THE BIRDWATCHER (performing as a trio):
Americana-folk favorites Maygen & the Birdwatcher announce their Spring 2023 Out of the Garden tour dates in support of their acclaimed EP “Bootleggin’ at the Flower Shoppe.”
It’s been an action-packed few months for Maygen & The Birdwatcher, the Minneapolis Americana-folk-rock sextet that released their 2022 EP “Bootleggin’ at the Flower Shoppe” to critical and fan accolades. They have announced their spring 2023 Out of the Garden tour (which got its name from the Bootleggin’ track “Out of the Garden”) in support of the EP, which Americana Highways says shows off a genre-bending group “capable of going full-on country, as well as mastering a variety of other Americana sounds.” They’ve gotten even more praise from Midwest Country Music, which in March nominated Maygen & the Birdwatcher for Album of the Year and Americana Artist of the Year.

KELLEY SMITH (performing as a duo):
Minnesota folk musician Kelley Smith recently released her first record, Moon Child, just after her 40th birthday. Raised in the woods by musicians, she always had music in her bones, but it wasn’t until her late 30’s that she attached to her guitar and began songwriting.
Smith is a guitar picker with an old-timey voice. Her first record, Moon Child, comes across as a mid-life coming-of-age story. As an insomniac, Smith wrote this first batch of songs by moonlight. They evoke a sense of belonging, juxtaposed with escapism, as she croons about long-term love, grief, and her draw to the night sky.
