New Radio Show to Showcase Local Rising Stars in Country Music
Midwest Country Music Originals to Highlight Talent and Cultivate the Country Music in Our Region
Minneapolis, MN (May 12, 2021) – Midwest Country Music Originals is a new radio show launching on stations all over the Upper Midwest that is a product of the Midwest Country Music Organization (Midwest CMO). The Midwest CMO (formerly Midwest CMA) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization designed to establish a network of musicians, businesses and fans to nurture the country music community in the Midwest. The Midwest CMO launched three years ago and has quickly grown to more than 170 artist members across 5 states!
“As a country artist, it is very difficult to get airplay without a major label behind you,” say Twin Cities Radio Personality and host of Midwest Country Music Originals Paul Thomas (PT). “This new show gives artists the opportunity to get their music heard from a regional audience that will in turn come out to see these artists perform, which is an especially important component of bringing music back after the pandemic.”
The new Midwest Country Music Originals radio show will air weekly at various timeslots beginning May 8th on a network of 12 stations spanning across Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota and Iowa. It is an hour-long show featuring music, interviews, tour dates/festival schedules and spotlights from regional talent. “The show sounded very solid including the nuances of how Paul Thomas (P.T.) delivers and structures the content,” says Arnie Andrews Program Director and Mornings at WCOW–COW 97. “It was a homerun for our station.”
Beyond having airwaves to support local artists, PT says Midwest CMO as an organization is designed to do even more. “We saw a need to build a network of musicians, business, and fans in the region who support country music and want to see it flourish here,” explains PT. “We have a significant amount of country music artists and fans and just needed the platform to connect the dots—we have that now and it is very powerful. Ultimately all of these artists are battling an industry dominated by a select few. Being able to unify gives the artists and the organization more opportunity for advancement.”
